Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in the West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. This West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is an extensive part that stretches from Lachine all the way west. Many times, it is credited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was not long. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa the city of Ontario. Her first ambition was to be a dancer. But, a growing spurt caused her to outgrow every dance partner she was able to have. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. When I surpassed the size of my male companion then I slowed down. A lot of dancers go from dancing to acting. As for the Brugel family, it was their drama instructor who pushed her in that direction. She was recommended by a teacher to find a role in school's annual play. She auditioned and ended up playing the lead of Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Brugel's career spans over twenty years, and she's been in over 60 productions including big screen productions and on smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was that of Rita (pictured in the below photo) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian on the Season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
